MEET THE COACH
I'm Cody Jensen, the owner of The Fitness Code. Since 2017, I have been helping hundreds of individuals achieve goals ranging from weight loss and muscle gain to injury recovery and improved mobility, but my journey into fitness truly began with what I thought was the end. I started weight training at 19 while attending UCLA and approached it with the casual confidence one would expect from a young person. However, when I was 28 years old, I started experiencing debilitating back pain. The subsequent MRI revealed that I had severe disc degeneration in my lumbar spine, and doctors told me my weightlifting career was over. That wasn't going to happen, so determined to defy expectations, I devoured every bit of information I could find related to my condition, nutrition, strength training, and recovery. After close to three years of careful research and application, I found that not only had I achieved pain-free movement, but I was also stronger than ever, and my physique had greatly improved. Coming from a career in education, I also realized that I had the skills to teach others what I had learned.
My mission is to help my clients crack the code to health, fitness, and longevity. I am dedicated to providing my clients with the tools, guidance, and support they need to reach their fitness goals while balancing the demands of work, relationships, and other aspects of their lives. I believe that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable fitness coaching that empowers them to take charge of their health and well-being. Through personalized workout programs, nutritional advice, and lifestyle coaching, I aim to help my clients cultivate lasting habits that lead to greater vitality, strength, and happiness.
I am committed to continuous learning and growth alongside my clients. For that reason, I continually pursue knowledge, seek out different perspectives, and hone my craft. In addition to being a certified personal trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and PTA Global, I am a certified instructor of TRX, Stick Mobility, and Landmine University.
In addition to my love for fitness, I have a deep passion for travel. In 2011, I made the decision to move to Japan to teach English, where I spent two years before embarking on a nine-week backpacking trip through Europe. I then moved to South Korea to continue my teaching career, spending another two years there until wanderlust struck again. I then bought a one-way ticket to Cartagena, Colombia, and set off on a six-month backpacking adventure across South America. After more than five years abroad, I decided to return to my roots in Southern California to be closer to my family and friends. Though San Diego is my home base, I still seize every opportunity to travel and explore new places.
